Frequently asked questions
Answers to common questions about nurse coaching and what it does, and doesn’t, include.
Is nurse coaching the same as medical care?
No. Nurse coaching is health coaching provided by a registered nurse. It is not medical care. Jerri does not diagnose conditions, prescribe or change medications, or treat symptoms. Coaching complements, and does not replace, care from your physician and care team.
Will you change my medications or treatment plan?
No. Any changes to medications or treatment should be made with your physician or prescriber. Coaching can help you understand your plan, prepare questions for your appointments, and build habits that support the plan you and your care team agree on.
What if I have urgent or new symptoms?
Coaching is not for urgent or acute health concerns. In an emergency, call 911. For new or worsening symptoms, contact your doctor or seek urgent care.
Is coaching the same as therapy or physical therapy?
No. Coaching is not psychotherapy, counseling, or physical therapy. If you’d benefit from those services, Jerri can encourage you to talk with your care team about a referral.
Do you work with my doctor?
Coaching is designed to work alongside your existing care team. With your permission, Jerri can help you organize information and questions to share with your physician. You stay in charge of what’s shared.
